Can you imagine working as part of a positive team, where everyone loves what they do, and wants to make a difference in young Kiwi’s lives every single day?
If you’re sick of your nine-to-five, or you’re tired of hustle culture, but you’re not sure what the alternative is, whether you’re looking for something part-time, or you’d like to build a career, becoming a swim school teacher could be perfect for you!
Fulton Swim School grew from humble beginnings in a cold outdoor pool and now has a dedicated team of passionate swimming professionals spread throughout the North Island, teaching our children (and adults) to enjoy, and stay safe in the water. We’re passionate about sharing our knowledge and helping Kiwis learn valuable life skills like courage, perseverance, teamwork, and of course, water safety!
We’re expanding, so that we can share the joy of swimming with as many Kiwi children as we can! This means that we’re on the hunt for incredible swim school teachers to join us and help teach families how to be safe in and around the water.
If you’ve ever dreamed of having a career where you get to change people’s lives for the better, you could be a brilliant swim school teacher!
Discover A Rewarding Career As a Swim School Teacher
We know that we’re biassed, but we think that being a swim school teacher is the coolest job around (not literally though, because all of our pools are heated to 32 degrees celsius to keep our swimmers warm and comfortable)!
We get to help people of all ages, from all walks of life, to find the skills within themselves to stay safe in the water! There’s not much that could be more rewarding than that, but being a swim school teacher has so much more to offer:
Change lives!
As a swim school teacher, you’ll work with infants learning to move and stay afloat in the water, children learning to swim and feel comfortable in the pool, adults looking to gain confidence and feel safer in and around the water, and all kinds of New Zealanders in between!
Swimming regularly has been shown to improve the health of people of all ages. So, not only are swim school teachers helping people to stay safe around water, they’re also helping people to live long and healthy lives!
Enjoy variety
As a swim school teacher, you’ll have the opportunity to work with students of all ages and skill levels, from infants to seniors. You’ll be helping your students to master a variety of swimming techniques, and key water safety skills, each of which comes with its own set of challenges to help your students solve.
Each student may struggle with different aspects of swimming, and you’ll get to help them overcome any obstacles in their way, and celebrate their success!
Working as a swim school teacher also provides variety in your work hours. We have lessons all throughout the day, every day of the week! So whether you want to work full-time, or part-time, you’ll have the flexibility to pick hours that best suit you.
Why Fulton Swim School?
Our high teacher-to-student ratios ensure students receive personalised instruction, and stay safe and comfortable in the water. Since our swim school teachers only ever have a maximum of eight students at one time, it allows them to get to know their students, give them their full focus and attention, and help them to hone their swimming skills more quickly than in larger group lessons.
At Fulton Swim School, we believe in celebrating success! We love celebrating the milestones our students achieve throughout their journey, but it’s not just our students’ achievements that we celebrate, we celebrate our team too! We recognise that each member of our team is on a journey, much like our students, and we want to uplift our swim school teachers and help them to be the best they can be.
We think of our team like a family. Many of our team members have been working with us for many years, some even attended Fulton Swim School as students themselves and have been inspired to become swim school teachers thanks to the positive and empowering experiences they’ve had learning to swim with us. We want to continue helping young Kiwis gain confidence through swimming, and we want every family that comes to our pools to feel like part of our Fulton family.
What our swim teachers say
We love what we do! And we think you’ll love it too! But it’s always best to hear it straight from the horse’s mouth; this is what some of our teachers have to say about working as a swim instructor at Fulton Swim School:
“I believe that it’s super important for all Kiwi kids to learn to love the water and swim competently. Working with children is so rewarding and something I’ve always thoroughly enjoyed!” - Emma, Patumahoe
“Living in a small island country, such as New Zealand, where water is only ever a few steps away, I understand the importance of educating our children about safety in and around the water. This crew has a wide age range, meaning I get to work with children of all ages, which is something I find super rewarding!” - Brianna, Puni
“I have had the privilege of teaching the life skill of swimming for 5 years! I never imagined myself doing swim teaching long-term when I first applied for the position, but now I can't see myself leaving.” - Jack, Botany
