AGE FROM 8 MONTHS
Quinn is now eight months. He is sitting up for short time, rolling over and enjoys being on his tummy.
Quinn's swimming lessons are going well, he is happy and relaxed in the water, and doesn't show any signs of anxiety.
Between six - eight months the head is still out of proportion to the rest of their body, they are able to reach for toys, they may kick vigorously or have a non existent kick.
Infants at this age they are not moving independently but like to be with you and enjoy contact and form a strong attachment to the main caregiver. They can develop separation anxiety sometimes as early as six months, but generally around eight months.
When swimming, the child may not want to contact the instructor, by just allowing short contact will get them through this time and it wont be long until they are happy to make contact.
Infant get board quickly at this age, as they are like little sponges soaking up knowledge, so need to be kept busy in class, with lots of different activities.
